Sacraments
Reconciliation and Holy Communion:
This takes place when the children are in Year 3 and is led by the catechists of The Parish of Our Lady of Furness and supported by Year 3 teachers in school. The Children usually begin their preparation to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion about November time when they are encouraged to start attending Sunday Mass as the starting point of their preparation. Then sometime after Christmas a series of meetings take place where the children, along with their parents, meet together with the Parish Catechists and Father Manny to prepare them to receive these precious Sacraments and take the next step in their life-long faith journey.
Confirmation:
This takes place when the children are in Year 7. However, we usually asked the children to commit to the programme at the end of Year 6 as this gives us the opportunity to talk about both the Sacrament and the expectations for preparation towards it. Again as part of the programme, the children will be asked to attend weekly Mass and will meet regularly with the Parish Catechists, Deacon Steve and Fr Manny.
