Our Mission
At Sacred Heart School we are called to change the world by:
Acting justly and with love; to speak for the voiceless and defend the defenceless.
Being joyful and courageous witness of the Gospel, carrying to the world a ray of God’s light.
Becoming caretakers of our world through knowing that Creation is not a good to be exploited but a gift to be looked after.
Our Vision
Builders of hope
“We can ask ourselves this question: Am I stuck on a playground or do I wish to fly high? Am I tied to a herd, blindly doing what everyone does, seeking only self-satisfaction, focused on myself, or do I look above to fly high? Don’t be scared, dare to have fabulous plans. I encourage you to not be afraid to dream, to have great ideals, to be builders of hope.” (Pope Francis)
At Sacred Heart Catholic School we aim to provide a welcoming and caring environment in which every child is able to be happy, confident and supported in discovering their individual talents and strengths. We believe that all teaching in our school must reflect our Catholic faith, enabling children to develop and deepen their relationship with God. It should not only be taught but lived, this being reflected in the way that all staff treat the children and in the way the children behave towards one another. We will nurture this through a rich prayer life within our community.
‘Love one another as I have loved you’
In order to achieve our vision we will:
Love and care for our children, staff and community in a happy, safe environment, valuing each person as an individual and precious child of God. We expect everyone to respect others and enjoy mutual respect created out of love for one another and to be secure in the knowledge that we are loved by God.
Inspire a love of learning by providing an exciting, challenging and creative curriculum, accessible to each individual which will prepare them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences they will encounter in the future. We will be generous in our collaborative work as part of the Mater Christi family to build truthful, inclusive and supportive relationships.
Encourage all members of the school community to recognise the dignity of work, be aspirational and have a positive, determined attitude to learning so that each one of them achieves to the best of their ability.
“How I wish everyone had a decent work! It is essential for human dignity.” (Pope Francis)
Encourage our children to believe in themselves, to know that they are a valued member of our community, each with individual talents and strengths that they can use to grow into confident, compassionate and successful members of our society. “For our children not to be afraid to dream of great things” (Pope Francis)
Educate and inspire our children to defend and care for our planet and their futures. “As stewards of God’s creation. We are called to make the earth a beautiful garden for our family” (Pope Francis)
