Behaviour in School

At Sacred Heart School we encourage good behaviour at all times, both in the classroom and in the playground. Our expectations regarding behaviour are rooted in the Christian values which are central to everything we try to achieve at our school.

There are a number of incentives to reward good behaviour including a points system, stickers or even prizes as appropriate. Good behaviour is discussed with the children; they have ownership of their own rules for classroom and playground. Prefects support good behaviour in the playground and pupils choose children they consider deserve the Citizen Awards which recognise fairness, respect care and consideration for others. Weekly awards are presented in the ‘Good Work Assembly’.

Each class has a behaviour chart and behaviour is monitored throughout the day. When unacceptable behaviour is observed on a regular basis, we invite parents to work with us so that we can support the child in adopting positive behaviour.

We invite both parents and pupils and teachers to sign a contract each year; this is a reminder about the kind of behaviour we expect to see in school. We believe that school should be a positive experience but we must all take a responsibility in promoting behaviour which will ensure a happy and loving environment for all members of our school community.
