The children have been writing to Sophie using postcards and were really excited to receive a reply
Is our first ever Patron of Reading.
A Patron of Reading is an author or illustrator who works with the school to encourage and promote reading for pleasure.
Sophie will be working closely with our school and we are delighted to welcome her.
Her first book The House with Chicken Legs is up for many children's book awards including Blue Peter Book Awards and The Cilip Carnegie medal.
Each term she will set a reading challenge for all children to participate in, if they wish.
The children can also send her questions, book recommendations, art work and reviews, as she has a dedicated page to us on her website
where the work or questions from the children will be published.
There is a box in school for our Patron of Reading where any questions, work etc can be placed or pass it to Mrs Needham.
This is very exciting for our school as we are the first school in Barrow to have a Patron of Reading and one of the first in the whole of Cumbria.
